Membership & Community Engagement Committee

Our Mission:

To build and sustain welcoming, equitable pathways for people to move from initial interest into meaningful participation as members, volunteers, interns, event participants, and future board prospects: creating UNA-BC’s engagement infrastructure so that every person who reaches out finds a clear, accessible, and rewarding place with us.

Connection to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)!

SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities): Creating equitable, accessible pathways for participation regardless of background, experience level, or capacity.

SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions): Ensuring transparent, accountable engagement processes that build trust and long-term commitment.

SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): Building the systems and relationships that bring people into the fold, strengthening collaboration across communities.

How we bring this to life:

We are the “front door” to UNA-BC. We make sure that when someone raises their hand (whether to volunteer, become a member, or just learn more) they feel welcomed, informed, and connected to a meaningful next step. That means:

Inquiry Intake & Triage: We monitor incoming inquiries (email, website forms, event signups) and respond quickly with a friendly acknowledgment, routing each person to the right committee or lead.

Welcome & Onboarding: We create a warm, clear onboarding experience; including welcome emails, orientation touchpoints, and easy-to-follow pathways for members, volunteers, interns, and board prospects.

Volunteer & Intern Pathways: We define clear, scoped opportunities for volunteers and interns, matching people to meaningful projects based on their interests and capacity, and supporting intergenerational collaboration.

Engagement Tracking: We maintain simple, reliable tracking of membership trends, event attendance, and volunteer involvement so the organization can learn what’s working and improve over time.

Community Engagement Touchpoints: We show up at events like Boulder Peace Faire and host welcome calls to meet people where they are and invite them in.

Board Prospect Pathway: We provide clear information about board service: time commitment, expectations, and impact; and route interested candidates through the appropriate process.
