Education & Learning Committee

Our Mission:

To increase our community’s awareness and understanding of contemporary global and societal issues - with a particular focus on the structure and policies of the United Nations and its agencies - by designing accessible learning experiences that equip people with the knowledge and confidence to turn understanding into meaningful action.

Connection to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)!

Our work directly advances SDG 4 (Quality Education) by creating inclusive, lifelong learning opportunities for everyone. We also support SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by building civic knowledge and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals) by connecting learners to pathways for engagement.

How we bring this to life:

We create spaces to learn, ask questions, and connect. Each month, we host a public discussion series at the Boulder Public Library featuring experts in world affairs, followed by audience Q&A. We also help shape special events like UN Day by arranging speakers and film programs. And we’re proud to support local high school Model UN conferences as judges, inspiring the next generation of global thinkers.

What’s next: We’re building on a proven Model UN program developed by our Co-Chair, Len Baldwin at Ohio State University - one that blends creative problem-solving, deep research, and real-world collaboration to help students build cultural awareness, understand the UN’s past and future, and explore complex global issues.
